This 1912 postcard image shows the Swedish Lucia tradition.
The oldest girl in the household gets up early on December 13
and makes breakfast. She dons the traditional outfit of white dress,
red sash, and a crown of candles. Then, she and her siblings sing
the Lucia song as they process to their parents' bedroom
to serve them breakfast in bed.

Advent Candles Christmas card

last throughout the coming year.

The card depicts a typical Swedish Advent candle holder.
On the first Sunday in Advent, the first candle is lit.
On each succeeding Sunday, another candle is lit until,
by the fourth Sunday in Advent, all four candles are
glowing, indicating Christmas Day is fast approaching.
